Coach Preston Weaver
Q: When was the first time you realized you loved lacrosse?
A: I fell in love with lacrosse when I was in 8th grade, having changed positions from attack to LSM, it all seemed to click and it's been love ever since.
Q: What drives you as a coach?
A: Seeing the players click on the field and coaching newer players
Q: What goals do you personally have for your time with this program?
The ultimate goal is to finish top 2 in our league and make the playoffs. Finish with a record above .500.
Q: What values do you hope to instill on the team or in the lax community at large through your time with these players?
A: Winning and losing with class - always respecting your opponent, the officials, and the teams you're playing.
Q: What do you think is the most important thing an athlete can do to grow as a player and as a person?
A: Always be coachable. I've been playing for 25 years, and still want to learn from others. Be humble with your play.
Q: Who has been your favorite or most inspirational coach or athlete?
A: Nick Saban in his approach to coaching the players to be better men first, and athletes second has always resounded with me.
Q: What are 3 words you would use to describe yourself? What 3 words do you think your players would use to describe you?
A: I would describe myself as jovial, easy to approach, and empathetic. My Players would say fun, easy to play for, and tough.
Q: What advice would you give yourself as a high schooler?
A: You're not a rockstar. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
Q: What qualities or skills do you hope to have (or grow) five years from now?
I would like to be seen as a resource to not only high school lacrosse, but lacrosse in general.
Q: What are some other hobbies or interests you have and how do they help you with coaching?
Oh boy, there are plenty. I like to listen to different podcasts & audiobooks to grow my mind and work out to maintain physical fitness.
Lacrosse wise, I enjoy watching coaching highlights and different variations of stringing lacrosse sticks (it's really fun to build differing pockets for different players).
Q: What song are you walking out to?
A: Incubus - New Skin
